The International Online Bible Contest for Adults – 2019
Registration is open to Jewish participants over the age of 22.
Who is not allowed to participate?
- Residents of Israel, even if they hold a foreign passport.
- Former participants that won one of the first two places in the international contest for adults.
- Former participants (twice or more) of the adult Bible camp
- Ambassadors of Israel, emissaries and officials who serve the State of Israel in the Jewish diaspora.
Quiz Stages
For all contestants, the online quiz will take place on August 18 and under supervision (in select countries).
The quiz will include 50 closed-ended questions (multiple choice) and will last one hour. The quiz can be accessed via a code that will be sent to the supervisor/contestant on the day of the quiz. The quiz can be accessed for 24 hours (August 18), and may be entered only once. A contestant that logs into the quiz more than once will be disqualified.
Test duration: one hour. The use of the Bible or any reference materials is strictly prohibited.
In the United States, Argentina and France, the 12 contestants who receive the highest scores will continue to a live quiz that will be held in their home country. Following this stage, the two contestants who win the first two places in each country will represent their country in the International Adult Quiz that will be held on December 24, 2019.
The remaining countries will be entitled to only one representative, which is the candidate who wins the highest score in their country according to the online quiz.
The online scores will not be weighted in the next stages.
Important note: The questions in all quizzes are based on “plain sense” of Bible (Peshat), without commentaries or completion of verses.
The national quiz (in the United States, Argentina and France)
As mentioned above, a live quiz will be held in the United States, Argentina and France, at the end of which two candidates from each country will be selected for the international quiz that will be held during Hanukkah.
The national quiz dates:
France: November 7, 2019
United States: November 10, 2019
Argentina: November 14, 2019
Each quiz will include customized themes and questions; the topics will be communicated at a later stage.
Each live quiz will be preceded by a written pre-test, in which it will be possible to score 50 points. This score will be the starting point for the contestants in the international quiz. Detailed rules and regulations about the structure and stages of the live quiz will be communicated to the public stage contestants.
Flights and accommodation in Israel
All contestants of the Hanukkah International Bible Contest will be entitled to full hospitality, including flights, as guests of the Ministry of Education.
The contest will take place in Jerusalem between 22-26.12.19. During the contest, the contestants will visit Biblical sites.
The International Bible Quiz in Hanukkah will take place on December 24, 2019, at the International Convention Center in Jerusalem, between 18:00-20:00 and will be broadcast live,
in the presence of the Prime Minister and the Minister of Education.
